Background information

Association “Imedi”-IDP Women’s movement for Peace is a non-governmental organization which was registered in December 1999 in Georgia.

Organization Mission

The mission of the organization is promotion of women’s participation in conflict resolution and Peace building and their psycho-social and economical rehabilitation

Goals of the organization

  • To protect the rights of IDP people
  • To raise the role of IDP in the process of building of democratic society.
  • To take part in peaceful resolution of Georgian –Abkhaz conflict resolution
  • To find a job place for unemployed women.
  • To protect vulnerable parentless, multi –children families, as well as orphans and single elderly people.
  • To implement health. Education and other programs for vulnerable ,displaced women and children

Fulfilled and current activities

Educational programs and Psychological rehabilitation of IDP children

  • 1999 Cultural-educational centres for orphan children ( Horizonti Foundation)
  • 2000 Summer school in Mukhuri for IDP children ( Open Society Georgia Foundation)
  • 2001 Summer camp "Madli" in Anaklia ( Open Society Georgia Foundation)

Psychological and Legal assistance

· 2007 January – December Project:Providing with psychological consultations IDPs at collective centers and in the office of the organization

Our organization is the member of the following networks:

  • "Protecting women and children against violence regional committee " (Open Society Georgia Foundation)
  • "CRINGO" (DRC) we have worked together on the state strategy on IDP conditions.
